Hi everyone,
I'm new here and looking for some insight / advice / help.
I have built a 16 X 30 Cabin (6 ft front deck).
But now I need to anchor it for the inspection.
It is built on pier blocks sitting on concrete sidewalk blocks. Area was leveled with gravel first. Soil below starts sandy but becomes dense clay pretty quick.
The cabin is kind of tucked in to the trees, so there isn't a lot of room on the sides. So anchors will probably need to be put in by hand.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

If you need to anchor it for meeting inspection requirements, I suggest you contact the inspector first to find out what they think is acceptable and approved for the application.

Thanks! It was a great project to learn from.
The really trick thing about the cabin is the stairs to the loft inside. They are on hinges and use gas struts to raise when not in use. I still have to order the custom gas struts though.

Quoting: Mainiac You must be in a non frost climate
User profile states Canada as a location.
Hard to avoid frost there.
Curios to know what sort of permitting was required before the cabin went up? Or was this one of those "gotcha" after the build deals?

We are located in Alberta Canada, So we have long cold winters.
All permits (building site, building, electrical, and outhouse) were approved. But anchors were the only thing mentioned RQD. However if we did it again, we would use drill in pilings for peace of mind.

Is this a permanent house or just a summer cabin? Very nicely done.

I anchored mine by making it so big and heavy that it would take a fleet of mack trucks to move it :P

I'm located in Alberta too - just outside of Calgary actually. Your cabin is absolutely stunning. May I ask what area of the province your cabin is in? I love the forest surrounding it... You're living my dream! Best of luck with your inspection(s)!

My cabin sits on a concrete slab then on cinder block piers 24 inches tall. I used mobile home straps every eight feet. the straps i got were designed to hook to the I beam on a mobile home, so what I did was drill a 1/2 hole in the center and lag bolted it to the wooden skids went over the top of the skids and used expansion bolts in drilled holes in the concrete. they have tie downs that screw into the ground that you hook the straps to.

Very late reply here.
Cabin is near Whitecourt - Lone Pine Area
Inspection went good and cleared. We ended up using about 40 arrow head style anchors that we sunk in to the ground with a jack hammer. Then the steel cable gets attached to cabin with bolts and tightened down. Worked pretty well.
