I have built two cabins using dovetail notches on the corners. The first one took about 2 months to notch and raise all of the logs using the scribe method.
The second one went very fast because I made some jigs to cut the dovetails with. The fit was much better too.

I'm starting a 16' x 16' in the spring, using 5x10" white pine timbers with a two inch joint. Is it necessary to have any type of connectors other than the dovetails? Seems like there should be a rebar or something along the length of the wall?
