I am thinking about putting my tarket flooring down directly onto my vapor barrier. skipping the foam underlayment. I know it may void the warranty, but I would spend about as much in foam as I did the floor for the price I got it for. The subfloor is advantech and the cabin floor is uninsulated up on piers. Has anyone else done this?

if the floor is real even i don't see a problem. however, i am really starting to dislike laminate flooring. to slippery for use in most cabins.

I am planning on going with the hand scraped. Don't know if that will be less slippery or not. Also will use vinyl laminate in bath.

just buy the cheap foam underlayment from lowes or lumber liquidators usually under $0.30 a sqft. well worth it for the cushioning on the feet and helps to quiet floor.

I'm putting a cheap 8.5mm laminate in the loft area.... directly on flat plywood. Will have half of it covered with a kindsized bed and the other half will have some furniture on it.
In the main cabin area I'm putting 15.3mm laminate from Costco that looks better than most real hardwoods. It has built in padding and since it is so thick I can't see what adding more underlay help... just need to make sure the floor underneath is perfect.
