Hey fellas,
We are currently building a small cabin for my son on the back property . This area is about 100 foot from my barn .
The barn power is 3 #6 copper buried cable so we have 220 v but only 40 amps. at the barn witch is tied to the house 220 foot away. Less some one is in the barn there is nothing running.

Question is, What size wire you guys recommend to run from the "barn to his little cabin"?

He will be running a 12,000 btu A/C , and a very small fridge. + a tv and computer .,. thats about it.

Run #6 all the way out to minimize voltage drop when everything is running at the same time. Try to split the loads between the 2 legs of the 240, the AC will probably draw as much as everything else combined so keep that in mind when you are doing the wiring inside the cabin.
