Ive been doing some research on log screws and am wondering how much difference is there between the three. I see the LogHog has three inches of thread but other than that are they all pretty much the same?

No idea what these things are. Can you post product photos? You have piqued my curiosity, even though I am not a log builder. Describe what they are. Are they special bolts for compensating for log shrinkage or something like that?

I just used the 10" timberlocs and l liked how they worked, they also only have a few inches of thread on them.
bldiginsp, they are long screws for fastening logs or thick timbers together, they have a hex head to use a drill to get them in....work great, but can't go crazy with them at $18 a dozen!

We are using timberloks here at work and they seem pretty great. Just wondering if the extra inch of thread on the log hog is a plus or a minus. Love that you don't have to pre drill. I'm finding 8" at 58 cents for the 250 pack. Spendy but much better than driving spikes.

I'm building a timber frame cabin (so, no, not a "small cabin"). My engineer insisted on the 3" tread as the 2" could pull out in a seismic event. I found my screws (Simpson and Timberloc) on eBay and paid from 10 to 30 cents depending on length.
