Anyone had experience with this? I'm thinking of building my sub-structure with tele poles with room for parking underneath, creating a legal 'carport' over which I can build my cabins. Any feedback?

that is building method used along the NC coast...for hurricane protection...flood waters mostly.
having you car down there will keep it in the shade...not bad for the desert.

I would for sure go with notching in the floor beams "into" each post and use large thru bolts ,, dont mount them to the side of the polls.
