I just completed the framing and sheathing of my 14 x 16 cabin in Northern Minnesota. I have hand framed 2x6 rafters 2' o.c. with 1/2" OSB sheathing. My plan is to cover with 30lb tar paper and Menards Pro-Rib metal roofing over the top. The ceiling is vaulted and I of coarse plan to insulate. would there be anything wrong with out venting? its a 10/12 pitch. any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

If your roof is in the sun and you have ridge venting you will keep the transfer of heat into the building down significantly. a reflective layer below the metal helps also.

It's not the fact that you have a metal roof that means you do or do not need to vent it. It is what the humidity from within the living space might do. A roof can be built vented or un-vented. Some builders screw it up when they do either. Rather than reproduce it all here try the following links

Joseph Lstiburek is the guru of venting and insulating.
