What do you guys prefer to use on the exterior of your board and batten (rough sawn) pine siding? I want a nice rich aged oak or mahogany color as I have green metal roofing and a green entry door. I think they will accent each other nicely..... do you use a solid color stain or a paint or something else.... Im not into the used oil treatment option that so many have mentioned. Thank all! I'll have pics of the progress soon. Almost dried in!!

I've used this twice now, but on T-111 and another siding, not rough sawn. It has a neat look (I think) kinda translucent, a little like paint, bit ends up nice and aged looking. Maybe try a sample...?

We are putting on rough sawn oak and everyone I have asked (sawmill owner included) has recommended just spraying with Thompson's Water Seal as you would a deck.
They all said there isn't much you can do to avoid the eventual weathering of it but the Thompson's will delay it for quite a while.

Call Perma Chink and ask them. I think their products are top notch. You might pay a little more but you get what you pay for.

Sikkens Log and Siding. Expensive, but the best product I have ever used for a rich deep stain and superior wear and tear. No offence Borrego, but BEHR products let me down every time.

I checked out the Sikkens. It is pretty expensive. About $65 per gallon.
