I'm a bit worried. I bought a bunch of treated 2x4s for the foundation for a 8x12 cabin w/ loft that is raised off of the floor with deck blocks. I've been looking around and it seems like people are using 2x6s or even 2x8s.
Am I in trouble? Should I get rid of my 2x4s and get 2x6s instead?

2x4's are pretty lite for your shed. I would use at least 2x6. Depending on your location and snow load 2x8 would be wise. good luck with the cabin

Go for 2x6 or better 2x8. Once the cabin is built, it will be too late to change. 2x4 may suffice if the cabin frame is not suspended (on deck blocks) but is laying down on some sort of flat (concrete) surface.

Okay, thank you. I'm going to change to 2x6 since the weather is pretty tame. 2x8 is a bit too high

I used 2x6 for roof rafters and floor support. My roof has a 1 foot drop in an 18 foot roof. We had a record snow fall this last year and no sag whats so ever. I have one beam inside at the half way point.
