without air lock doors and windows there would be smoke everywere ,hardly a 12x16 cabin ,but, nice to look at .

Gas flame? Look what damage a few scattered coals or rolling log could do... Our home fireplace has had door glass broken twice by rolling logs, nothing in this cabin to contain them (unless those are asbestos chairs).

That is a heavy duty vent fan above the flame to handle smoke. I've seen appliacations like this. The down side is the noise of the fan, sparks and cost of insurance ,that is if you could find a company to insure your cabin.
