Hi everyone,
Last year i bought a small piece of land that already had a platform and foundation build on it. It's made from rock and concrete and seems to be very solid. I just found out that its actually been there for more than 10 years! Although it has passed the 'test of time', there was never actually a building on the platform so who knows how much weight it can actually hold now.
My main concern in the 2 foot overhang that is supported by what looks like, temporary steel columns. I doubt i could remove them and build a solid column... I'm thinking of building a form around the current footing to increase it's size and engulf the bottom of the steel pole. Then build another form about a foot high around the pole and pour one layer at a time, making my way all the way up to the concrete overhang. Then i have to figure out how to pour under the overhang!
I'm totally new to concrete (and construction actually, but I've built sheds and small things before). There are 3 poles to do... Does any of this seem reasonable or should i just leave it alone and paint the pole a nice green or brown?
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks!
By the way: The plywood is rotten... i kicked a hole in the weak spots so that no one would step there and fall. I may be able to save some of the 2x8's but i don't really like how it's build so i may rebuild it in the spring. foundation
