When I look at the concrete driveways around town, some are cracked and some aren’t.
If you consider the variety of forces driveways face it’s pretty impressive that they hold up so well.
Detached garages on pads are also common in older neighbourhoods and while they too crack, they haven’t been blacklisted.
Now my brother’s house was originally built by a foreman of major commercial/industrial builder in the city and even a neighbour told us that the driveway would never crack because of the thick rebar in it. It’s anouf 60 yrs old now and still in great shape.
