Maybe I just missed it, or they did something different I don't understand or have never seen before.

I think it's to let the water out when those windows leak.
Rim joists or blocking is required at the ends and over each bearing. I have to hunt when looking for a good car repair video too. Its amazing how many people post "this is my first brake job and I thought I'd show you how its done"

At what time stamp on the video do you see the issue?

It does look like it was built without a rim joist at first. But maybe the sides to it were added later.

That is why we want to know at what point (time 'stamp') in the vid run does it take place; lets you fast cursor to it without watching the whole thing.

Apologies for not posting the time stamp.
I thought perhaps they did something later I didn't recognize that was relevant.

I mean... they use a double ply 2x for the beam... so it seems sensible to rest a rim joist on the outer one and set the joists on the inner one.
At this point it looks like something might have been done but it is hard to tell.

Here it looks like they just extended the OSB down to cover the joist ends.

That does have rim joists. What your mostly looking at is the girders that are flush with the rim joist.
Looks like hes extended the siding way down to cover as much of the girder and rim joist. That's how siding should be.

I'm just learning so... maybe I am using the wrong terminology.
Shouldn't the joist ends be connected to a 2x? Isn't that the rim joist?
If they add it later, why? Wouldn't it stick out from the other framing?
It also looks to me, like in the last link in the post above that the OSB covers the joist ends and nothing was added.
It looks like the OSB comes straight down in which case I can't see how anything was added to the outside of the joists.
Not trying to be a jerk or anything. Just trying to learn this stuff and this seems to go against everything I have seen. That's why I was asking if they did something else. rimjoist.png

Thank you Brett. I guess it wasn't obvious I was asking the OP who had the concern.

Thank you Gcrank1.

I don't think he did. (on the long side) I would have. To create a complete rectangle for blue board and foam to insulate the floor.
