Is there a tool to help locate where you'll be drilling out of on the other side of a wall? Assume there isn't a point of reference to measure from, so one is essentially drilling blind. With tools like stud finders and non-contact electrical testers, I'm thinking there's something that can help with this.

I can't think of a time it was not possible to easily measure from some point or reference or it really didn't matter. Or we drilled from the side it mattered rather than what would have seemed most normal.

A good Thermal imager? If a point on one side can be safely heated enough to find from the other side.

Look at a Walbot app for iPhone or Android. I have not tried it. Looks interesting. Allows "seeing into a wall for maybe 4 inches depth IIRC.

In those situation I measure as best I can, then drill a really small hole, just large enough to pass a thin wire through, then put the wire through and verify on the other side its where I want it. If not, jam a tooth pick in it and start over.

I do an eyeball and/or quick-rough measurement to be sure my thinking is in the right 'zone' then do the wire or skewer trick if needed.

I found a tool they do make for this, but it appears to rely on a magnetic, and 2 of the surfaces I'll be drilling through are metal. Hence, I doubt it'll work for me.....

Not sure if this will help since I'm not sure of
all of the details of what you are doing. You
could locate the same point on the other side
of the wall, at least the vertical by using a clear hose
with water in it. Since it will find the same level
point on each end, you can take a long hose around
to the other side and find the level line there as well. Then it is a matter of horizontal location from some point. If you can level the drill and hold it at a right angle to the surface, it should drill to
that point where the water level is the same.

Just an idea.
