What's your best method for this?
Do you just mark the corners, snap a line and circular saw it?
Freehand it with a sawzall riding along the stud?
Get it close with the above and then hand router with a bit that works well on plywood?

I've done this different ways. After using a sawzall years ago, I wanted something different. I tried a panel bit on a router on my garage last year. Eh, it was so-so....kinda burny on OSB.
Then found a framing guy on Instagram that uses a spiral panel bit, and that's what I used on my cabin. Expensive but WORTH it. Just drill a hole in the RO somewhere, and go to town with the router.

Typicaly I use a sawsall from the inside. If it's done from the outside with a circular saw blade it does come out a bit better. This way you can also over cut a bit into the stud, setting the blade depth is important.

You won't regret the router bit. I find it MUCH easier and faster than a sawzall or circ saw for this.

I just used a long sawsall blade and did the cutting from the inside. Didn't even bother drilling a hole, just used and extreme angle to start the blade. Worked like a charm and was super quick. 1 $12 blade did all my openings (8 windows and a door). Was done in like 20 min!

Router bit. Nicest cut edge, accurate, easy.... All the same reasons drywall guys use routers to cut holes for electrical boxes, etc. I know the appearance does not matter with the rough carpentry but it makes me happier with my work.

Nate R that router bit was the bomb!! That bit in my Porter Cable router around 15k RPM made that 1/2" plywood feel like butta'!! Thanks for another great recommendation!

Rotozip with a flush trim bit (used for sheetrock)
Or get close then use a router with a flush trim bit. That is what I used.
