Trying to decide what size house wrap to get for the build.
Given i have a post and beam style foundation and the joist assembly is elevated, should the house wrap go over my pressure treated rim boards?
I never had plans to cover the rim board with siding. I debated covering the rim board with aluminum coil stock before i put on the wall sheathing so that any water that ran off the sheathing and eventual siding wouldn't touch the treated rim board.

Get the largest size house wrap, then cut it down to what ever size you can manage by yourself. Use the cut offs on windows and doors.
Rim boards is part of the dried in structure and should be covered with house wrap and sided. You can wrap the house wrap under the rim board and staple to the back side.

Quoting: WILL1E I never had plans to cover the rim board with siding You should cover it with something. Something that dosnt rely on sealants to keep water out. Or skirt the rim board and underside.

My sheathing extends past the subfloor and over the rim joist about 1".

So why not extend the siding down there? Are you using pre-cut lengths that then won't be long enough? Or?

I would just put sheathing on the rim board to keep the planes equal for house wrap and siding.

I bought 10' sticks for the wall. They will be trimmed to 9'6". Add the bottom plate and the doubled top plate the studded wall is 9' 10.5". Subfloor is 3/4". The 1/2" plywood sheathing i ordered is 10' long. Therefor the sheathing will cover the wall, subfloor and 3/4" of the rim joist leaving ~8.5" of the pressure treated rim joist exposed.
My plan was to buy 14" tall aluminum coil and wrap the 2x10" rim board and the bottom couple inches of the studs before i put the sheathing on. So i was going to buy 10' long housewrap which would cover the sheathing and then the coil would cover the rim board. I was trying to leave the rim board exposed (no siding) in case i decide to add on additional decks.

That should work. If you want to make it a bit fancy bend an L on the bottom below the rim board. It helps keep the aluminum streight and wrinkle less when nailing it on.

Well that changes things, but on all other areas that doesn't get a deck, wrap it and side it.

Have you ordered the 10 foot siding yet? If not, order it in 11 feet, I bet cost wont be too much different than the 10 foot stuff.
