Homesteadalaska Member	# Posted: 27 Aug 2021 01:36pm Reply Anyone in the Anchorage, Alaska area aware of any stores that might sell chinking material? I currently live on a remote island with terrible internet and no phone service, so finding information is near impossible. I thought I'd try here for any AK residents. I leave for Anchorage in a couple weeks, then fly out to my remote property the next day. I'm on a tight schedule, so trying to plan ahead.

I work at a remote fishing lodge and am busy 24/7, so itâ€™s hard to get time to plan my cabin build. I finally got some phone service on the boat one day, and I took your recommendation and found some permachink at SBS. Iâ€™m excited to get rolling. I still have the property near Skwentna and plan on building a cabin in just a few days, once Iâ€™m done with fishing season. I donâ€™t have a lot of time before the first snowfall, but I do have 8 guys coming to help. Last year, I was able to clear off a new spot, and cut about 100 logs 16â€™ long and 2â€™ in diameter. Should have a good supply of timber to get a structure built. I hope to post some pictures here. Thanks again for the helpâ€”saved a lot of headache.
