Any of you build you own pond? If so, how much surface area, how deep, how much did it cost, what did you dig it for (fishing, swimming, etc.), and if you could do it again what would you do differently?

We built our pond in the front yard of our new home build in 1978 .
The good .
Attracts lots of wild life if that’s your thing.
Water plants are quite nice.
Increases land value
Fire protection ,decrease insurance cost
Soothing to be near
Kids love to play around the pond.
Winter ice skating
The bad.
Maintenance is Constant in and around the pond .
Attracts pest bugs ,weeds, unwanted animal’s
Dangerous for kids.
Maintaining waters edge is difficult.
Needs some sort of water supply to maintain level...
We have never regretted building our pond.
Hope this helps.

That looks nice Just. I started to dig one a few years ago, posted a thread about it, and decided against it for the reasons you mentioned. But again I might..
