Have unusual idea which is sure to have unusual problems.
I have been wanting to put a hunting cabin on a off grid location. Have access road started and plans for small cabin ready when blam, curves ahead, I had a thought.
A friend has an extra steel beam and I know where I can get another. Then I was talking to an Amish friend and he has a 12x24 lofted steel sled building for sale. The building is not what I had in mind BUT I put the parts together with a beautiful small stream and a good location I could straddle the stream.
Not to bore you with details and yes preventing all from washing away is #1 priority. What are the issues?
#1 for me is humidity. How much of an issue and how to minimize? I can imagine moss growing on the bottom especially. The bottom will be 8 or more feet from stream.
All opinions good or bad welcome.
Any that would be neat thoughts especially.

I'm not sure what state or even country your in but you cant build that close to a stream here.

What Brettny said. Even where I'm at (Alaska) one of the few covenants on the property are set back requirements from water.

I know of several homes built over streams in Tennessee. Most are huge and expensive. However you bring up a valid point and I should check with local authorities. If I cannot put a "shed" over my stream I'll put it alongside and build a bridge over the stream.

Put a bridge with a trap door in front of the cabin and a sign that says, "Toll Bridge". Then as people cross ask them: What is your quest? What is your favorite color? What is the speed of the African Swallow?
