Hi there. I may have an opportunity to get a good cottage at a reasonable price. Because of the distance involved, I think the only way it would be feasible to move it would be by barge. The cottage is about 900 square feet, one story, and is currently on blocks. I have the lifting and transporting to the barge and off the barge and to my lot figured out. I just need some info on the barging part. The cottage is about 200 miles across water. There are really no obstructions. Has anyone had experience with moving by barge? I would like to know the ballpark cost to barge it. Also, how long would the barge journey take? Thanks for now.

I have a barge /landing craft ,what is the width and height of the building and what is the roof and attic set up ?i am worried about it being top heavy .I charge $2000.00 a day for my barge if that helps you to price it out ,barges are not fast but in the right conditions I could do 200 miles a day .

Thanks Bruces. It is 25 feet wide and 36 feet long. It has a very low pitch. The peak of the building is about 5 feet higher than the 8 foot ceiling. The building has a cathedral ceiling. The lake it is on is Georgian Bay. Thanks for any info you may have.

I had a lumber shipment hauled to my water-access property by barge a couple weeks back. The load was around 8000 lb total, but only about couple miles distance. I can't imagine hauling a cottage that size. If it happens, post some pics, and pray for calm waters!

I am in Sudbury and Wasaga Beach ,and haul in Georgian bay often ,but it’s actually Lake Huron lol ,which isn’t a fooling around lake especially 200 miles with a cottage on board .
Both of my barges are out ,mine are road legal so 10’ and 8’ wide although I am good for 22 tons which is probably fine ,dump truck ,back hoe, your cabin in pieces no problem but 25 feet wide is more than two dump trucks side by side
What area of Georgian bay ,it is pretty large and I might know someone who can help as I build lots of places on the water ,if you narrow the area down lol ,
