Who is going to their cabin for the 4th? And what are your plans?

I'm going up, bringing the four wheelers and kayaks.

Going to kayak the river, take the boat out in the lake for some fishing, ride the RZRs and just have a good 4th of July weekend.....

We'll be at the cabin. A friend down the road throws a great party every year. Normally there is a flea market across the street, don't know if it's happening, probably not.

The local parade isn't happening. Normally I take the old fire truck. Last year I took it to the party. The host said to spray some water. So I fired up the pump, and another guy at the nozzle shot water over the house to the backyard where the party was going on. Soaked everyone, including the BBQ. Didn't go over too well..

We are headed back... tomorrow. We have actually been at the cabin since March (most of the winter as well). Just came back to our place in AZ for a week to tidy up around it, the big fire here was about 20 miles from our house. We got all the pine needles off the roof and cleaned up from the yard and around the house.

Now.... back up to CO and our bit of paradise! We have been building a 10' x 20' shop/woodshed (no pictures because I built it on railroad tie piers.... and they aren't lined up perfectly.... don't want to get told how I "SHOULD" have done it by folks who weren't here trying to dig holes in this rocky ground....maybe when it's finished. ) so I'm pretty sure our 4th will be working like we do almost every day. But the neighbors are up this year for the whole summer so we'll likely get together and cook something and maybe run around the hills.

We are hoping to get our backpacks on in July and August and knock off another 100 miles or so of the Colorado trail....it's about 500 miles and over the last couple of years we have hiked a little over 250 miles of it.... got some remote, rugged and high elevation sections left to do.

We are heading up and hope to have some family over who live near by and have a little bbq. We found a new swimming hole this spring so we will try that out since it is hot enough now. It will just be nice to be out of Long Island for a few days, the past few months has been the worst here. So many people escaped NYC to their Hamptons homes full time, it is unbearable. We used to be a semi rural town with large summer crowd but they have been here since March it feels like a different place.

My wife has been at our cabin since COVID. I got to spend a month there "working from home" but it was pretty much a joke. My job isn't effective from a distance. I've been working at my facilities for two months now. Some of our products go into medical equipment so we are booming and essential.

On a normal 4th of July we would host a big party. I'd always do something as a meal that would draw then in. Clam bake, fish fry, steaks, Maine Lobster.

Well, come to think of it even if I made PB&J they would still come.

This year is different. Wife, I, dogs and daughter with new husband. But I'm taking a week off from being essential.
