As soon as you turn the pump on the water comes out of the shower. We don't have a switch,we use a gasoline powered pump. One person starts the pump while someone else is already in the shower so we don't waste any water.

Thanks for the reply...
So does the Ecotemp automatically come on when the water is pressurized and starts to flow out of the shower head?

Hi all, we are not quite done with our outdoor shower but wanted to show it at about 3/4 of the way done. We have a natural spring on our property and made a catchment system that gravity feed's fresh spring water into a Spring Box (beer cooler). 3.3 Gallons per minute! From here it is gravity fed into a 33 gallon barrel and pumped via Flojet pump through the Eccotemp L5. Unlimited hot water in the middle of our Colorado forest at 10,000 feet! My wife named it ~Ahh~. Spring_Box.jpg

Hey thanks for posting up my pics.
Just a note on the Colman shower bag. It ended up ripping after a week of use at the handle. So I cut a hole in a milk crate and hung the crate on the hook and used it that way. The bag heats up really really well as long as its a sunny day and you shower before dinner. Next year I'll have my rain collection system up and running with either a EcoTemp or Camp Chef. Until then I'm going to do a 5gal bucket and just heat some water. It seems that I never stop working up there till almost dark and by then the bag has cooled.

Just added the backside Trex kitchen counter to the Shower. The Eccotemp shower head doubles as the sink faucet for now. A 12v light clips on to battery also. Mighty convenient.... Shower_backside_1.jp.jpg

Here is an update on mine. The bucket shower will run same pressure start to finish 9+ min. Took a camp shower and maybe used 2 gallons. I heat water in my turkey fryer I got for Christmas like 8 years ago... finally used it. 100 deg in about 10 min.

I just finished our Showter (Half Shower, Half Sh!tter), at least that is what we'll call it until we come up with a better name. (My wife doesn't like Shabin either...) It only has one wall that mostly separates you from where others typically are. All the outdoor showering while in construction of the place really changed my original design to what we ended up with. It's essentially half an Octagon with a Rectangular roof, one back wall, and a dividing wall between the Shower Side and the Sh!tter Side. We simply use a hand pump shower that we received as a gift 10 years ago when we bought the property. Think small garden sprayer with a shower head. It's kind of like the one in the previous post except it was orginally intended for showering. It has trigger at the shower head wand as well as the ability to lock it on. It also came with a carrying bag and it works great.

Here's mine. I had rough cedar 2x4's that I cut and planed down and glued together for my vanity counter top, and made the vanity. It's not finished, but I use 1x6 for the walls and chamfered the sides. Shower is temporary, but it's going to be made with roof tin. My shower head is a 4 gallon blue water plastic tank that sits in a metal bracket. We take the jug down, fill with the right water temperature and put back up. 2 people can get a shower out of the 4 gallon jug with a shower head on it. Sink and toilet are hooked up to a spring fed water tank giving me about 10 psi.

Since it just the wife and I, no neighbors for miles, I built this. Show with a view. Water is heated by the sun through 3/4" Black pipe gravity fed from up the hill. No wood, no power, needed. IMG_1252.jpg

Finally got a weekend to complete the new shower and "library"
Picked up up a Keter 4 x 6 shed and split the space for use as a shower and bathroom.
On the floor we laid down those anti-fatigue rubber tiles which makes the floor much warmer and easy to wipe up. In fact we liked these tiles so much, we laid them down in the bunkie and put the carpet on top. Makes a huge difference on an uninsulated floor.
I used a hole saw to cut out a pass through for our 12v shower and covered it with an all-weather outlet box. We will also use this to run a pump to drain the water from the bin.
And thanks to the suggestions here, a 36 quart turkey fryer provides plenty of hot water
The shower uses a pvc frame and a couple cheap shower curtains.
We screened the vents from the inside, caulked and foamed so we hope it will stay relatively critter free. 20150426_114107.jpg

Nice setup Toyota. This is my quick/cheapo solution to when we need the occasional shower. It takes six or seven minutes for the turkey fryer pot and boiler to heat up six gallons of water to shower temperature. We use a ZODI Outback Gear battery-operated shower pump that works quite well.

Our Summer Shower
Here we have the exterior, carefully recovered from the ancient ruins of Whatthphkizit manor on the newly acquired adjacent estate;
The naturalized entryway is enhanced with clasps of fine composite, a touch by non-other than Cabi, décor maven extraordinaire;
side note; If one is so attuned to peering at neighbors, one can use a spotting scope from the farm a quarter mile away and actually see, on a given afternoon, the wrinkled alabaster pooper of Gary O' (my gawd). The interior, carefully matching the exterior, is accompanied by two major accoutrements; the hand rails of Spruce, Pine, or Fir carefully placed for the whoopdeedoo I've fallen and can't get uppers, and the laving shelf of solid ply of wood...for laving. OSB was considered but quickly abandoned by the architect after this great find;
Here we have the solar heated water contained in convenient twin liter flasks of glazed composite;
Note; we've found that two of these is more than enough, even for this medium sized walrus.
Other note; You really don't have to repeat after rinsing. One foam up, one rinse does it. Who knew? (prolly the shamoo makers)
I know, I know. Yer all ready to run out and git yer tarps. Well, folks, heh heh, this is one-of-a-kind.
...and so are we
Stay tuned for our winter edition
