I realize that propane provides fuel for heat, hot water, lights and even generators for a lot of us here. However I just despise the look of these big, ugly tanks next to our beautiful cabins and cottages.
Questions: Do you feel as i do that they detract from the overall look and feel of your place?
What have you done to hide it?
I spent $10 on a piece of military camo to throw over mine. It helps a little, but it still bugs me.

Heh, I looked a bit into underground tanks for one, but that seems to be more of a pain than it's worth.
I'm anticipating that I'll have anywhere between a 20 and 100 lb tank, and that I may just have it next to the cabin, and enclose it in a little "mini shed" under the overhang of the cabin, with the same colors, siding, etc as the main building. Not sure what else to do with it.

We have it near the entry driveway, no place else to put it and lots of hard digging to put it where we really wanted.... So I made a pressure treated box around it and we are in the process of fastening dead Ocotillo stalks to it...I use a 2 inch brad nailer
Here is a photo of what it will look like when done...

I laughed when I saw this, and then thought "Hmm".

Quoting: Nate R have it next to the cabin, under the overhang of the cabin
Code requires mine to be 10 feet from the structure.

Rock, Nice find. I agree with their statement "marred by an obtrusive propane tank". Too bad they don't make one for the 120 gallon tank that i have.

We will be purchasing 2, or maybe 3 vertical 100 gallon tanks, fairly soon. We are going to pour a concrete foundation inside one of our chicken houses that is only used for broody hens, currently.
I think I will just have another hen house built, and use the one for the LPG tanks and miscellaneous storage.

One fellow down the road covered his 360L Fat Bob with a shed that looks just like Dr Who's Tardis … vented at bottom & top in case of leaks. I like the idea of painting them BUT if they are "rented" tanks, the companies generally do not appreciate that....
NOTE PROPANE IS A HEAVY GAS and goes to Ground if it leaks, unlike Natural Gas which is a Light Gas and dissipates up. Allow for airflow underneath & above, lest you like a Big Bang.

Works out great and hides the eye sore of a tank. It is on our deck so it is vented at the bottom and is just propped in the corner loose for easy access and not sealed to the cabin. Plenty of airflow around it so it has not been a problem

Quoting: jaransont3 eye sore of a tank. Good idea. Looks much better. My tank is a bit bigger and the code will not allow it this close to the structure.

Bury your tank. My cabin is in Florida, but I live in Georgia and have a tank buried in both places. It’s PERFECT..... out of the way and easily accessible for the LP company to come out and refill. It’s a different type of tank they use when they bury them

I'd use couple of spray paint cans to paint it with camo-like look.
