Starting a real general thread for "rustic" links and ideas.

I've been trying to improve the look of our old cabins. They were always furnished with mismatched city left overs, inherited overflow items, hand me downs, near worn out items and whatever was on sale or cheap. So for decades we had a real mix of junky looking furnishings (velour couches, etc).

I've been tracking down things with a more 'rustic' look to match the knotty pine board interior walls and have come across numerous sites that have rustic things and thought I'd create a thread where others could also post links and ideas.

For example I was looking for rustic valance for over my kitchen window plus ideas for rustic frames on mirrors.

Here's an example of a company making both. Nice work but not really what I'm looking for but would be great looking stuff in some cabins:

I haven't ordered from them yet, but they offer some interesting items. Some tacky, some pretty cool.

No pictures to post (yet) on this idea, but along the same line, our cabin interior will be mostly tongue and groove pine, no stain low gloss lacquer finish. The cabinets and interior doors will be knotty alder finished same but the natural color of the alder will add a contrast. The ceiling of the kitchen and bathroom (under the loft) I'm contemplating corrugated galvanized with the galvanized acid etched and rusty finish.

I was originally thinking log type dresser and armoire in the bedroom but was in a customers house the other day (I'm a painting contractor) and saw bedroom furniture that was painted a low sheen country blue and distressed and edge sanded to look old, country house style. I'm thinking I'm going to spend some time at the thrift stores looking for something I can reclaim and finish in a similar manner.
