I'm hoping to x-c ski in to my place on for the day on the Feb long wknd in two weeks. It's 8 kms from the end of the lake but I think I can get to a closer set off point and cut that in half.
I don't have a heat source other than my mr. buddy propane heater which I won't leave on if i'm not awake so can't stay there yet. Could make a quinzee maybe!

We got 6.8" of snow today. Most I have ever seen in this part of Texas. It was unreal. But so Beautiful.

it is actualy the 4th place we ve had.. this one was the worst one because the land is protected by oceans and fisheries canada not just the township !! have to be very carful not to upset any neighbours! thought we would go the old trailer root at least untill every one got used to us.. first one we have had solar power in ,it has worked out great! we have a wood stove for heat as we found the propane furnice uses to much juice . we have a rain barral and evetrough in the back hucked to the trailer pump . we add a little bleach once a week . only use it to cleen up . we dug in a french drain to take the sink water .there is a outside shower and out house around the corner ,no need to be real pryvit 1 k to nearest neighbours.. the grand kids us the creek ,6 ft deep

We are sooooo lucky. There is a family that lives year round up by our cabin and they keep the main roads plowed. We can get within thirty yards! Perfect to strap on snowshoes - through stuff in the sled and pull into the cabin. Makes you feel like you really accomplished something just getting there without to much exertion. And the stove heats it up nicely. Winter at the cabin is amazingly beautiful! Love it.
