Well I need the help from cabin owners from the area of Sprague River and Beatty Oregon. We are building a cabin on a remote piece of property outside these two community's. I fell off the roof and my daughter had to take me to the hospital in Klamath Falls which is an hour and half away. My question is if we are not able to move someone who do you call. Again this is a remote piece of property with the better gravel road a mile and a half with the paved road 8 miles away. Thank You for any help. Not much for a fire department

Howdy, future neighbor! I'm going to be building in Klamath Falls Forest Estates this summer! I'll be in Bonanza and there is a more active community and volunteer fire department there, as well as in Merrill, but I do plan on buying an Air Ambulance subscription, just in case.

It's VERY inexpensive, something like $60/year, and I was told by others in my area that most people carry such a policy. There are a number of air ambulance services available. If you Google, you'll easily find one that suits you.

I'm sorry you fell and I hope you're well on the mend!

In my area, there is a service called Med Star, they did a nice presentation at our last association meeting. A good value. I think it was $59 a year and includes your family. They have a spot picked out for helicopter landing (a guys large open field) and as soon as you call in, they are enroute to that location. Its about 3/4 mile from my cabin as a crow flies maybe 2 miles to drive there. The helicopter is on its way as soon as you call.

Here is the website. https://www.nwmedstar.org/

They may have something similar in your area. My cabin county is huge and everything is a long drive. All remote.

If i lived there, I would have this service.

Its cheaper than the good AAA with 100 mile towing. Foolish not to have this service.

Check here:

There is several for your area:

Thanks for posting the link to Cal-Ore. That's a really good one for our area and most likely the one I'm going to get. I didn't have time to look up the link when I posted as I was on my way somewhere.

Already doing life flight thing but we're on a hill with a 1 1/2 mile 4 wheel drive trail only. I mean trail. Going in in the spring time you go in early when ground is frozen and leave late after ground freeze again we are at the top of a hill Landing life flight would be a half a mile away there are No services to get you to a landing spot. The question is who do you call for help. Forest service? We are a 1/4 mile from Fremont NF. Search and Recue? Thank You for any help

You set up a landing zone for he helicopter. As far as how they get to you, maybe that info can be added in their system, ie know where your location is, can get you from there. Worst case scenario, send down a basket??? All info they can answer for you.

Agree with toyota_mdt_tech. That should be part of your membership file notes with the life flight service.

But maybe you can make friends or have acquaintances around Sprague River as resources or emergency contacts? Someone you can call on? I take it you don't have any near neighbors but even if it's just striking up conversations with someone who works regularly at a gas station or convenience store near you, if nothing else.

I'm not sure if there are staffed forest service stations in the area. It would be worth checking into.
