Hi all, just wanted to show a small but very useful project I have been working on. Would like to know what others use... I bought a 10ft. piece of galvanized grating off of Craigslist, cut it down into 24inch sections and with leftover wood and Trex decking pieces I am making different foot cleaners. Some will be free-standing steps, while others will attach to small decks. One for the outhouse, cabin, camper..etc. The last pic is a piece that will attach to my 4x4 deck on my outdoor shower.

That looks like a great ('scuse the pun) idea! I bet it will work really well.

I have one of these too - they work very well. Unfortunately, I haven't figured a way to get the darned dog to use it!

Put a Scooby snack or bone under the grate before he comes in.

Thanks neb and hattie. I hear you mossberg on the boot brush, they have those at some of our area hiking trails and they clean boots really well.
I like that my grates are actually heavy duty also. The piece I am standing on.... between the Trex, the metal grate, and the wood, I would say it has to weigh close to 50 lbs. Lifting it is a bear. My property is forest and tends to get shoes covered with pine duff and such more often than it does mud.

I've been thinking of doing something similar. thanks for the pic's I need to get on that. Pine needles seem to be my largest issue.
