My wife and I looked at several places and narrowed down our requirements. We secured financing and bought a 2 acre piece of land. It's less than 1/4 mile from 35 acres of hunting land my family owns, and is all tall planted red pines. Eying up an adjacent 2 acre parcel, might delay our eventual build to acquire that one too if the out of state owners are interested in selling. We also bought a somewhat shabby 24' camper and had that set on the property. Need to get an outhouse built next spring.

So we're a lot closer to our goal than we were a year ago!

Haltzy - noticed two plugs running off the 1000w inverter. I assume these go to a distribution box with circuit breakers? How did you tie these in?

The two plugs coming off the inverter are just short extensions to a weatherproof receptacle on the outside of the box. I rely on the breakers in the inverter for the protection.
Here are a couple more pics.
Cheers.

Haltzy -thanks for the info. My battery bank is much smaller but should be adequate (I hope).

Very Nice... are the beams and decking 3x12's? Did you put in 2 or 3 beams?

What is the weight of your tractor?

Cheers;

Welllll,,,the two runners underneath are 2x10,s treated.The deck is 2x6 treated butted right together and the gun walls are 2x4 treated.The span is 12 feet and there are two support struts under it at the half way point to support the middle.The tractor with bucket ,,,,2000 lbs.It's tethered with a chain tied to a tree incase the flood stage floats it up and out of place it wont go to far.

The main thing that I accomplished this year was to enter the ranks of "small cabin owner" and to join this forum. I've wanted a cabin getaway for years. However I'm very frugal and never thought that I would actually pull the trigger on a purchase. My father-in-law passed away recently (my mother-in-law in the not too distant past also) and left my wife and I bit of inheritance. He, like me, always wanted a wilderness getaway. He didn't give me much advice over the years, but he did tell me towards the end that if I wanted to do it I best not wait. I've owned the cabin for almost 5 months now. I'm over the buyers remorse period and I'm excited but a bit intimidated by all of the work and learning that I have to do. I've attached a couple of pics of my 360 square foot beauty. Each time I go up I love it more. It's about a 4 hour drive, but there was nowhere closer to get what I wanted. On the edge of Muskoka in Ontario on a beautiful river.
