Hello from South East, Arkansas. We live right in the middle of the delta near DeWitt. We are in the process of purchasing a lot on Connerly bayou which feeds lake Chicot which is about 1.5 hours away from home. Lake Chicot is North America's largest oxbow lake and was formed by the Mississippi river. Once we get all utilities on the lot, we will begin building our cabin. Plans are for a 16 x 32 with gable style roof. I will make the roof tall enough for a good sleeping loft. A large front porch will extend over where the bank starts dropping off and will have stairs leading to our boat/fishing dock. Although we will not be off grid. We will be doing everything possible to save energy. Being on the water, we are required to put in a grinder sewer pump to hook into the municiple sewer system. That will be our largest expense with a total of between $6000.00 and $8000.00 for the system. My wife and I are excited about this project and can't wait to get started. I am so glad that I found this forum. It is great.

Welcome. Sounds like a fun project, post photos as you can.
$6-8,000 for sewer hookup! And I'm sure they will charge you a monthly fee. That's more than installing a regular septic in most places, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Welcome! Cabin people are the best people. All the rest are just, well, confused.

Hi Cisco, been up there several times. I see a couple of folks on here from North, Arkansas and Southern, MO but looks like I am the only one from the flat lands.

And flat it is. I have coached football in the state for 21 yrs. Played in the playoffs in your parts a lot. Star City, Fordyce, Dumas to name a few. Very flat country
