Although it may be sacrilege and not optimum, regular 120 volt wiring meeting code can work for a small 12 volt powered cabin. My off-grid 14x24 uses this setup. I have plenty of power for my LED lights, stereo, and shower pump. The longer the run of standard house (120 volt) wiring, the more the 12 volt DC power drop. You can up the wire gauge for less drop, using 20 amp standard outlets versus 15 amp'ers. Anyhoo, a good book from the library can explain standard house wiring (I like the Time-Life Series books often found at used book stores).
If anyone (workman, someone borrowing cabin) attaches a 120v generator to your setup, say goodbye to whatever 12 volt appliance they switch on! Probably a small risk.
