Stumbled across this site and found kindred souls. Was blessed to be able to acquire 48 acres in 1999, started the cabin in 2005, maybe we'll finish it one day.
Going tomorrow about 4:00 pm, can't wait

Welcome, South ga! Terrific cabin and I'm envious of that covered step-up porch. Nice substantial awning over your side entry door ... snow country, I presume?

Thanks folks.
I will get some more pics inside and out this weekend.
KC, no on the snow country, we are in the upper coastal plain of south georgia. However, we did get a few inches this past February , first snow since 1989.
We do get heavy rains from time to time so the awning is just for protection of the door.

south ga,
Are you using "Upload file(s)" link to post pictures?. Please check notes under the "Read Uploading Rules before!" link.
Ensure your files are in .JPG format and are resized to the reasonable size.

Yeah, I thought I was doing the same thing I did with the exterior picture in Post 1.
I choose my picture and when I try to post, it does nothing

Love the interior South Ga! Question, I notice you have the same ceiling design as we do. How difficult is it to keep your cabin cool in the summer?

Timberjack, it has been ok.
The ceiling is a 5/8" t-111 plywood, then we put 2x4 stripping at 32" centers and laid 1-1/2" polystyrene insulation in between with the tin roof over that.
The walls and floor have r-13 batts.
It will get hot here so we cheat and turn on the ac. I put a 18,000 btu heat/cool thruwall unit from Lowes in a couple of years ago and it does a good job but most of the time we just have the windows and doors open.
