Just ate 3 Sunday night! They were almost past their prime. We're in southern Ohio. I suck at finding them but about tripped over these.

I found a pound in Central Ohio this past Sunday. All grey's and pretty good size. Didn't even look very long and these were all within a 20 sq ft area.

It's my goal to fine one morel every year to keep the family tradition alive. I found a few snakeheads (aka spikes, half-free morels, woods mushrooms) in the very limited time I had to look. My son found a nice grey or yellow sponge a couple of days ago. Near my house in the Dayton area, not near the shack in Vinton County. Maybe one day I'll come across a patch like VC_YamahaRider found...

I used to live in a state that had morels - I loved hunting / eating them.
Sadly - I now live where they don't grow.
I did find this page on Morel sightings - you might see if anyone near you is reporting finding them:

and you guys are making me hungry...

Found a bunch today in southern Ohio. Mostly yellows, but still a couple of greys and spikes. Probably will peak in the next seven days here. Mushrooma.JPG

We have morels in Virginia, Shenandoah county!
Also, the pawpaw trees are blooming.... I'm ready for pawpaw tree fruit too.
Thanks, Rich

RichInTheUSA That's right buddy. I live in first county south of your cabin. The Shenandoah Valley is loaded with morels. It's the filet mignon of the forest.

Would this be a "grey" morel? I'm new to finding them... as I had just bought my cabin property last spring, and didn't look for them at the time.

No. That's no grey. That's something else.
