So after a long winter and I finally decided the temp should no longer drop below freezing I started to reconnect my water system to my cabin. Part of this is a EccoTemp L10 water heater. As I took my system out of my shed where I had it stored for the winter I noticed some debris dropping out of the water heater unit. Upon closer inspection I noticed pink insulation in the unit, a mouse nest. Crap As I took apart the unit to clean it out I find this just isn't a nest, it's a condo. Every square inch of this unit is packed.

OK start to carefully removing all of the material and out pops a head. Momma mouse with five babies bitten into her back. This mouse just didn't get the message that an eviction was in order. She kept climbing deeper into the recesses of the unit. For the next two hours I did everything to convince her it was a good time to leave. Did you know a mouse could growl? I didn't either but guess what, they do.
Finally she leaped from the unit.

I half expected this thing to choke me in my sleep as she was pissed

Reminds me of routing around in a canvas bag that was hanging on the wall. Without looking first I put my hand in the pouch only to grab a mom mouse and her babies.

I did the Heebee Jeebee dance for a while then removed the bag from the cabin.

i found a drowned mouse in my toilet water. hmph. I said. then the next morning. another mouse. the day after that. two mice. and I'm all like wha? where are they coming from.

then i do laundry and pick up a tshirt. out comes a snowfall of meeses. (um, sensitive readers beware) stomp stomp stomp. tshirt goes into the firepit.

then for a few days ... there's this smell. one day I'm rooting around looking for something in the lower bathroom cabinet drawer. I find 3 very desiccated baby mice.

i guess somehow, never happened before or since, a couple of lady mice got into the washroom and did what lady mice do.

I hate mice worse than cockroaches, ticks, spiders, snakes etc. I was in our pop up camper once, sound asleep and I was dreaming about a spider that was near my ear. Next thing I know, something runs across my face and wakes me up!!! It was a damn mouse! Hate them!!!

O.K., Somewhat off topic, but similar. I was mowing the lawn at home and noticed what looked like straw coming out of the dryer vent on the rear of the house. I open that little flapper thing and it is about half full. So, naturally I stick my hand in the dryer vent to pull it out. Momma bird was at home. Wilbour, I know all of the steps to the Heebe Jeebe dance.

Was restacking a rock landscaping wall, when mouse nest uncovered. My dog pounced, only to have the mouse stand its ground and open its mouth about 90 degrees to show its teeth! No match for the dog, though. It was over quickly.

I used to let the mice be in the yard and shed. But this winter they chewed through almost all of our pop-out camp chairs. I even had them hanging in the middle of the room so they weren't easily habitable.

Then we found a dead mice family in the control panel of our A/C unit. They were fried...think they got too close to a capacitor or something...

Thinking about using the antifreeze trap so many recommend!

I throw out 2-4 sticky traps every couple of months and.. bam! no mice issues .
