Hi all, new to the site. Browsing while planning for our eventual home here in Ontario.
Our very rough plan so far is to build in an unorganized township up north(we're currently in London, Ontario). The wife and I plan to build a small, house, with a composting toilet, gravity fed shower, solar for power and hand pumped well for water.
Livestock-wise we plan on chickens and goats and I plan to maintain a few hives of bees.
I'm going to school for medical Herbalism soon, Wife will be attending courses to be certified as a Doula.
I suppose that's enough of an intro, back to lurking, feel free to let me know if you see any major issues already(we were trying to avoid most by going unorganized). TIA, sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Welcome to the site.
Rest assured you can post any question no matter how stupid . You will get the answers you need.
Honestly there is very little bashing here and the folks who post often have invaluable information for any situation...except Income Tax guidance.

That's cool in your township you can do shower & sink greywater into the ground and don't have to have a tank. Most places you would have to have septic. I'm envious. Welcome to the site, it's full of good info.

Thanks for the kind welcome everyone.
Yeah I was lucky, met my wife in highschool. We've been together since 18, almost 26 now. Glad I found one willing to go out into the boonies with me and live with my eccentricities.

Likewise, we dwell in a place called briarpatch. I met my beloved in HS, well thinking back the met part was about 5th grade. She was as happy to move to the boonies as I. 31 years on the official clock and a few more before. Good luck on life's adventures.

Welcome!
DH and I built in a unorganized twp in Northern Ont. No building permits. But we needed a perk test and passed also had to draw up our plans and submit them to the local building department for a change to the bylaws, got approved. I think that cost us $250.00. Not sure how much the perk test was. Probably wasn't much since I can't remember.
Good luck! Look forward to seeing your plans unfold.

Welcome to the Forum DwellerintheBriars Great Folks with great info and always most helpful. It's good to see another Ontarian on here building the dream ! Quite a few of us in this forum it seems.
Don't be afraid to ask questions, the only stupid question is the one that isn't asked.
