I am going to an outpost in canada that has solar power. I want to know if i can screw in an outlet socket in a light and use it to power a cd player.

Only if they have converted the solar power to 110v. Some installations run off of DC power, either 12v or 24v. It is often easier to convert to 110v AC so common items will run off of the power. Is there a contact at the outpost you can send a question to? If the light socket is 110v AC then the answer would be yes. How much power does the CD player draw?
