Just joined -cool site-Not a stranger to cabin life-I,m 51 and have been going to my friends parents cabin for 40 years. Also I have been fortunate to have roadtripped and backpacked to lots of areas all over this great country with my trips to Alaska being my favorite.Last year I bought 14 acres in northern Penna.Quiet-secluded bordered on the back of the property by state forest land.I,m a contractor by trade so my son and I built a 16x20 cabin on 6x6,s.Outside complete (siding-soffit-facia-shingles-windows door-Done)Insulated the inside and will continue work this spring-adding a porch and a shed.No eletric-no water and lovin it.I,m 5 miles off the pavement.I can drive to it in good seasons but winter is snowshoe in the last 1/2 mil which i enjoy.Heated by a woodstove.I was just up again last week for 5 days by myself and loved it.I,ll post a pic later when mykids can help-noy much of a computer person.Have a fantastic day!!!!!!

Now that's great. I like the off grid and remote location.

mrhayes, I also live in southcentral Pa.(enola-near Harrisburg)My cabin is near Carter Camp which is a little south of Germania.Being self-employed and not chasing the dollar I,m fortunate enough to spend a good bit of time at the cabin.Of course my favorite escape is donning the backpack and disappearing for few days.I have a bunch of friends with cabins in the same general area so for weekend fun sometimes I,ll have em drop me off on route 44 10-12 miles from the cabin and I,ll spend a couple days hoofing through the mountains to camp.PRICELESS-have a fantastic day!!!!!!
