happened upon this forum and it looks like a good one.
we have Hunt camp on Crown land (government owned land) near Ottawa Ontario, that was established in 1918. Beautiful country but rugged, madeup of mixed forest, granite outcrppings, swamps and some great fishing lakes and rivers.
the original log structure collapsed in 1971 and was rebuilt over two weekends by the 8 members . unfortunately due to the speed of construction the camp is now badly decaying from the floor up as it was built on top of the original camp floor (logs)
we are planning on rebuilding the same 500 sg ft (+-) structure adjacent to the existing consisting of a new raised platform and reuse as much of the existing building we can (rough cut lumber, galvanized roof and sides, window etc)
big challenge is we are located well of the beaten path, 14 miles bush road and 2 miles of trail accessible only by true 4x4s.
will certainly be looking forward to participating in this forum

this is one of the challenges of building in this location, but the benefit of the remoteness makes it worthwhile.

Nice, I love the stove too.
My place is 26 miles from town and 50 miles from the nearest lumber yard. The nearest HD is 90 miles away so I understand what that is about. It isn't too bad if you plan ahead.

That looks all too familiar. I had a deep mudhole in my access road that needed to be remedied. If you have a truck, a couple loads of gravel can help.
