What is the best way? I don't want to tip it over and risk cracking it. It's old from 1977 or so. It currently has 4" legs and I just purchased 10" legs. It's an old Vermont Castings Vigilant.

Block it up and unbolt. (imagine car on blocks with no wheels)
Then put on new legs.

Similar to what Johng said, I would use bottle jacks to lift it up. Place a few boards underneath to support the entire stove, and use the bottle jack (or jacks) to gently lift it... Raise it up, unbolt and rebolt
