Time,it took two years from the time the logs were cut to the finished shell.
Money, some people do not have enough acreage or the right trees to build a cabin. Log home kits are not cheap.
Finding the right builder,if you can find one that has experience with log building and can show you examples of his finished work.
Maintenance it's on going and also costs time and money.
Some don't want that much of a rustic look.

Man, neckless, that is one tidy lookin’ structure. Love it. After seeing some shows on log cabin maintenance, I’ve backed off on thoughts of building a genuine log cabin.
However,
I’m considering two-three foot walls and log framing (rafters and all) for my next cabin. Logs draw me. Insanity can be that way.
(I also like the handle ‘neckless’, makes me smile)
Keep a fire
