Wow that worked! Just a two finger swipe. I can even read the license plate!
And I now have it in its final spot, can even watch the cars go by in the road past the gate. just a couple mounting screws and I’m done. Except for an SD card, you use one? Also keeps asking if I want iCloud. IMG_4457.jpeg

Yes. I use SD cards. I think I use 64 gig cards?/? I don't use the cloud. The cards work great. Glad you got your zoom on. Lolol.

The SD cards are just to play back stuff? I guess this camera does do video. If I see something on my screen I can just do a screen shot and have that.
Thinking maybe a second one for the house, people come and go occasionally, not that I need to see that, unless it’s a burglar.
Thank you for all the help Darz, and for digging up that zoom text.

You're welcome. The cards store the pics/video. If you get a big gig card, it will store quite a bit. I usually erase mine every day. But on mine I can also download it to my phone and send it wherever I need. I really like the coverage of the multicams. You might have to play with yours to get it all figured out. Mine will send me a text if I have the motion function turned on. Don't really use the tracking. The coverage is very good.

Ok I put a card in it and recorded the trees breathing for a minute lol. Haven’t found a motion menu, it does have ‘smart alarm, human detection’. Turned that on, guess I’ll walk down there and hang a ba, see if it records.
Sure is a lot to these buggers. Kinda fun though, I put it on the wife’s phone, gives her something to watch besides soap operas.

Been at the house this week getting a new clutch in the Ford. I meant to leave the WiFi and camera on at the cabin but forgot, force of habit turning all power off. Big windstorm yesterday, would have been nice to have a look around from afar.
As bad as the instructions are for this camera, the chat on the web site has answered my couple of questions fairly quickly and thoroughly.

Can you hook the USB power to the battery in your shop?

Doesn’t have usb power that I know of, only this 12v jack and an RJ something telephone?
Bigger fish at the moment. Got to the cabin today and powered up. Nothing, just blinks once and says offline. Got a text into them now. Might have to just get one of your brand.

The online tech was unable to get my camera back working and gave a refund. I ordered the one in your first post and will have it Monday.
No idea what happened. Was fine when I last left the cabin. Turned off the WiFi but left it powered on.

The cam comes with a 120 plug in charger just like a phone. I wired the shack for 120 AC and 12 vdc. I also have the same for camper, shop, gazebo. I think the cam comes with 10 foot regular USB plug in, so you can hook a cig plug in to your battery. I tried one out with a jump box that has USB ports. Worked fine. I bought a few variations of these for golf carts/ gazebo etc. Really like them. I wonder how long you can run a USB off a 12 volt battery before it drags it down without recharging. I am sure someone here can do the math better than me.

Well I'll be. I have 5 with the USB plug in the first pic. But the one I still had in the box is like the one you got. I wonder if they changed the power source for some reason. I have had zero problems with the USB type. I see that the new one still takes 5 volts.

Just my luck. Same part number? Well I can hook up a usb output wire and cut the 110 thing off. With my luck that probably won’t work…

Yes I checked the model #. The same . I believe you've took apart and rewired USB plugs before. Maybe you can clip the output wire from the power converter and wire an old USB plug. Sorry bout that . I never thought to open the new one.

The model # is the same for the other ones I have. So I know 5 vdc will work.

Yes done plenty of usb wiring. Might even have a jack so I don’t have to cut this power supply.
If I play with this at home it will connect to the WiFi here. Then when I get to the cabin Monday different WiFi router. Will that be a problem?

I wouldn't think so. The good thing about these cams, is they work on 2.4 or 5 wifi. I've got starlink that has both "channels". And the cams work on either.

Quoting: paulz so I don’t have to cut this power supply. If you're gonna wire a USB cord on. You can cut the camera jack off And still have both connectors for the converter.

Ok, give me something to do in the rain. I’ll get it working on the grid power first and the try the usb. I might even leave this one working here and get another for the cabin.
More tomorrow. Thanks Darz.

Minor update. Got the camera going at the house on grid power but all my usb connection junk is at the cabin so that’s it till probably Tuesday.
Very very similar to the one I just replaced. Likely came off the same line..

Back at the cabin. First I tried it on the inverter to make sure that still worked, good. Then I cut the jack off and hooked it to a usb port. Nothing. It does say 5v right on it.
There are for wires inside the cable, two red two black. I tested those, reds to the center, blacks outside as you would expect. I tried it in a few usb ports, including the hi zoot one that charges the iPhones. Then I jumpered the jack back on and back into the inverter. Still works fine. Stumped. If you are going do cut yours and try on usb have at it.

Did you try reversing the colored pairs in a test sequence? Ie, since there are 4 wires each may need to go into a specific spot in the jack. I know on one of my rigs it is particular because one is a 'trigger wire'.

Wait… I changed to a thicker usb cable and it’s working… more to follow..
Ok, I changed from the little usb cable to one from my Apple phone. Guess the little one just wouldn’t pass enough juice. Next, time to walk it down to the shop and try.. IMG_4488.jpeg

Ok, camera down at the shop on usb. Here’s my gate and the town road. That’s about 250 to the shop and camera, another 250 up to the cabin and WiFi. Looks like I’m all set. Again..

Thanks Darz. Getting tired of watching the trees in real time. If I leave the WiFi on and not here, can I record an animal going by, or a car? I have an Sd card ready. What else, turn on one of the monitoring functions? Notifications by email? Will it only tape for a preset time?
