My cabin and acreage happen to be located only about 12 miles from a limestone quarry offering a variety of high quality types and grades. And I have several bobtail dump truckers around for hauling and spreading. Two days ago I had 4 loads delivered. We spread 2 loads and stock plied the rest. So 2 of crusher-run, 1 of Class A & 1 of screenings, a cost a total of $1490. About twice the cost of just 4 years ago. 'Glad I don't need this very often, the cost of such services just keeps escalating. I don't know for sure, but I'm assuming the trucking was about half, & rock at the quarry the other half. This sure makes a nice all-weather road expensive.

I had similar happen, a short load of 3"-4" rock for some base and 17yd of crusher run for widening/extending our drive to get the new prebuilt cabin in. It was dbl what 17yd of c-run was in 2020. Pretty much everything is way up, a lot of things I have on my radar are +30ish % and some 50ish%.... Looks like our retirement fund may not last as well as we thought. Another shocker was on my little tractor; it has a recall for a steering part. I asked how much have them change the hydro fluid at the same time (drop a drain plug while working on steering part, then a small cover to change the filter. Button up and fill with 14qt). $350!

So much "talk" about affordable housing yet every component required (tool, machine, gravel, lumber etc) is skyrocketing. I'm almost afraid to find out how much the gravel I need is going to cost me now... There is at least 3 quarries for different rock in less than 10 miles from me, so that's no problem.

Nice. Coincidentally when I got here yesterday they were paving the road out front, and using my gate for a turn around. So, always the opportunist, I bought all the remaining asphalt when they were done. $400 IMG_3632.jpeg

I pay $25/tonne up here. I haul it myself in my dump trailer that holds 5 tonnes. For some comparison a standard dump truck carries like 12 tonnes. A big truck with a trailer hauls 28-30 tonnes.
The cost of haul in the big truck is about $750 in material and about $700 in trucking (I'm 22 min from the quarry). So about $1450 + taxes for 30 tonnes delivered!
Price is up from $18/tonne in early 2020.
Next time you are driving down a gravel road, think about how much it costs.
