Looks for a tight fit the 2x8 would need a slight plane on sides and top and bottom edges. Did ypu do that? Thanks

Are you new to being on a forum?
Reason I ask is that it is normal to post a comment or question on the 'thread' of an existing topic so it maintains the context and continuity.
Starting a new topic is just that for others to reply in your context.
It is a fairly quick learning curve and we all had to start somewhere
