Last month I got a transfer pump that's safe for gasoline. Explosion ? proof so far. Lol It has a rocker switch that reverses the flow. Didn't think too much of it at first, but it's actually really useful. When I'm done pumping the gas, I hit the switch and it will suck the gas out of the discharge hose, and dump it back in the bulk barrel. If I pull the intake hose, it drains the whole system pretty well without having puddles of gas dripping everywhere.

The new pump is 12 volts. Used to just use a low volume car fuel pump. It worked well for lawn mowers, 4 wheelers etc. But only about 1/2 gallon per minute. The "Gas Depot" has its own (old) battery, that I have hooked up to one of those small solar battery maintainers, that keeps it charged up enough to work well.

Yes, I have 'need' for such! But I can only imagine that the fuel must be running thru an all plastic impeller assembly isolated from the motor. Still makes me nervous tho.....keep a fire extinguisher handy.

Yessir. I have fire extinguishers everywhere. I have used cheaper diesel transfer pumps not rated for gasoline, to fill the bulk tanks. Always made me nervous. That's why I bought this rig, that's "approved" for gas. The nozzle is plastic, which I wasn't impressed with at first. But it works well and you can top off your tank easily because you can control the flow easier than at the gas station. You can literally fill a shot glass without spilling it At first my wife said, "The nozzle is plastic. How can that be safe?" Then I pointed to a 5 gallon plastic gas can, and asked her the same thing. I can upgrade to an auto shut off nozzle for about 30 or 40 bucks if I want or need to. Another thing. Crank, I think you have a BP gas card, that you get a discount on gas. ? We have one. Save .15 cents per gallon. When I first got it, I saved . 50 cents per gallon. I bought 150 gallons. Lol Anyway. Now I pull up with a 55 gallon VP racing fuel drum. Pay for it with the BP card, then as soon as the transaction posts. I pay for it with a credit card with 5% cash back rewards. Then as soon as that posts. I pay it off without interest.

Yes sir, we happily have the BP card with the always .15c off/gal. We have a BP a couple miles down the road that tends to be priced most of the time under the other locals too. We always pay off any credit card purchases monthly so NO charges at all; the only way to go for us

Nice Darz, with nozzle!
I have a couple of old car fuel pumps I use when I need to move gas. Then of course there’s siphoning, cough cough, puke..
