I am usually pretty diligent about packing up after a stay at the cabin. There is not much to take home. Cooler, box with clothes, IPad and manpurse. After a Labor Day stay with the wife and 3 dogs, we all arrived home safely. And traffic was not terrible. THEN! I discovered that I had left the manpurse at the cabin that had my hearing aid charging dock in it, along with the IPad. Usually my mantra leaving the cabin is, wallet, iPad, phone, gun.purse. I blew it this time. Blaming it on the dog roundup before we left. Can’t blame on the wife, can I? Luckily, it is 2 hours back to the cabin. And I got to spend a few hours listening to the quiet. I will be more careful next trip for sure

Been there, done that! From both ends; left something at home that was essential (meds) and left something at the cabin (wallet).
Yesterday I left my thermos bottle of coffee at the cabin. A Minor annoyance. No one to blame but myself .

Ha, aren’t we all in that boat. If I’m lucky I will only make it down to shutting the gate when I realize I forgot my wallet/phone/hearing… Also only a half hour drive if necessary.

Reminds me of the older comedian, Andy Huggins. One of his jokes: "I'm always forgetting things, the other day I reached for my wallet and realized I had forgotten my pants! "

That’s funny! Much of my cabin time I don’t even bother with pants, big benefit of solitude life.
In addition to that, there’s turning off the water, windows, Lfp, power… and the doggie door I always forget. I expect to return to a cabin full of wild life.

We use to spend 5-6days at a really remote and rustic camp in the ADKs. No power, no lights but a few propane gas lamps or anything. I had all our electronics packed in a bag that I left on the kitchen counter. We had one palm sized crank radio with a tiny flashlight for that whole trip. We survived.

A buddy of mine flew us out to our remote cabin to go moose hunting. I ended up getting sick with a cold and we ended up leaving the next day. Too bad because my beautiful wife was going to come out for a week and stay with me. I forgot my hearing aids also. And now have to fly back out. We started to build a dock and walkway so we're going to try n get that finished when we go back out in a couple days. I may stay out. But we will be ready to start painting our new house next week and beautiful wife wants in. So may get that done first. And take our 7 year old grandson out moose hunting more local around here. Oh well, it is a nice flight out, 40 minutes or so in a Piper super cub.
