Pulled a couple of old chainsaws out of the shed. I got these at swap meets back when I first bought the property, hadn't run in years since being replaced with a big Husky, smaller Stihl and the new Lithium saw. I put the Mac 60 on Craigslist, as is, for $200. One guy asked if I could video it running so I put fuel in it. Started and idled great but man, the excuse they put for a muffler on this thing is crazy. Sure sounds good though. So I sent him a video, he wrote back and said he decided to buy a new saw. OK no problem. Another guy came over, picked the thing apart (where are the original sprocket cover nuts?) and offered me $150. I said screw it, I'm just going to keep it, hang it on a wall. Apparently it is somewhat collectable, the few I saw on Ebay sold for 3-500.
The other one is a Monkey Wards, also 60cc, but weighs about twice as much. Might as well bolt a bar on a Briggs. I doubt there is any collectability to it, and I haven't bothered to get it going. Maybe I'll stick it on CL for $100 and take 50.
Both saws did their share of work getting my property ready to build on. Mac.jpg

All the old saws are 'collectable' to somebody, its trying to find the right somebody. Expand your 'marketing'? I had a guy one time start pickin apart a thing I had for sale. After the first couple picks I started raising the price. He didnt seem to catch on....so I packed it in and left him standing there.

On the other side of the coin many people think there old junk is gold.
A brand new Stihl saw is $200 now. Prob weighs half what these do, has a warrenty and people love shiny new stuff.

A 60cc Stihl will run you $600+, which is what the guy told me he was measuring the Mac Pro 60 against. The Mac weighs 15.6, same as a comparable new saw.
That old Monkey Wards yeah, a tank. But also 60cc.

I don't know where you can get a new stihl saw for 200$, I paid $400 for a 46cc MS251. If you want an actual commercial grade you're definitely way above 500$
But I would recommend them, much lighter and they start/operate very easily....

The ms251 is still in there home owner line up. The ms170 starts at $200. Yes the lowest grade saw but it's a quality brand and new.

Electric saws are probably influencing the price of small gas saws. I love my little Stihl but haven't used since I got the lithium saw. 18" bar, advertised as the same power as a 50cc saw. I don't doubt it, I have cut and bucked some good size trees and goes until I'm ready for a charging break.

I keep saying I need to get my old 47cc? Husky going but keep on using my little Champion 1.7/2K inv-gen to power my seriously old Wen corded elec chainsaw. The 4 stroke gen is a lot more pleasant to hear than a 2 stroke and with it set on Low it settles down nicely between spooling up for cuts. The cord really is more inconvenient than troublesome, and that mostly when limbing and topping. The corded models are faarrr less expensive than the battery powered.

California plans to ban the sale of gas chainsaws, in fact all 'small off road engines' in a couple of years. Won't affect me since I rarely buy new (I did buy the Li saw, blower and weed whip new in a rare moment).
Good, bad or indifferent, but often other states follow suit.

Speaking of old saws, I had to cut some 6x10s this morning. Was going to use a chainsaw but remembered I have the Big Kahuna! 12" blade, old as the hills, and heavy as a hill, no carbon fiber on this baby! Compare to a standard Skill and my junk wood sidewinder. Got 'em done.
