What is your guess on pricing lumber n building supplies ? I hope that pricing comes down a bit after the spring rush. Which is just starting here.

My understanding is that supply side is still a bit tight, so my guess is that prices will remain high.

Supply side/demand and the continuing high inflation devaluing the purchase power of currency says to me the prices are as low as they are going to be.
Im buying stuff now before my dollars are worth less tomorrow.

Over the last couple of years I purchased over 600 12' by 6" tongue and groove boards at $8 to $8.50 each for the inside of the cabin and bunkhouses. Tomorrow I need another 36 to finish up and I will be paying $17.75 each.

Yeah I just bought 200ea ,1x6x8' TnG pine boards for the lid in our cabin. About $10.40 ea.

I have been watching Lumber Futures for the past year and a half while I've been acquiring the materials for my cabin build. Ticker is 'LBS1!' It can help give you a general direction of where things are headed.
A keen eye helped me pick up the bulk of my materials at 1/2 the cost it has been last August when it bottomed for a few weeks. Home Depot tends to be about 3 to 4 weeks behind the futures movement.

The 2x6 x8' PT I've been watching was:
$14.28 in mid-March
$12.98 late March
$11.28 since April 6th
hasn't moved in a month so I guess its time to buy some. Homedepot does a pricematch/adjustment for 30 days from purchase.

Every store with a return policy has that length of a "price matc"..you may just have to do some leg work.
I dont see lumber prices falling this year with diesel fuel clost to $7gal here. It takes fuel to make and deliver all wood products.

BRADISH I tried to find some kind of actual stated policy about the 30 day price match from HomeDepot directly but couldn't. All I see is OTHER people talking about it being a thing.
The 2x6 x8' PT dropped to $9.98 so I just bought 70.

That quite the timing, Paul. I just checked Menards pricing a bit ago on 2x4x8' (<$7)and 4x8x 1/2" cdx ($35ish).
Guess I should be buying some this week and getting on with the delayed projects.

BRADISH I actually 'price matched' today on some T1-11 I bought at HD last week. It dropped $2/each the day after I bought it. I took my receipt in and they did a 'return' of everything, then a new 'buy' at the lower price. Lady at customer service said there is a 90 day window for this kind of 'price match'. Saved me like $36
My 2x6x8' PT is now down to $9.58, so drop of almost $5 since March.

Good idea. Spring has sprung, lumber prices down, no excuses, we're not getting any younger.
Dug the holes for my carport posts today. I think I have the lumber I need but nice to know if I do need something it will only cost an arm, not the leg too.

What I think I see is that the common size sticks are priced attractively to get us in the door but the 'go withs' to do and finish are high. All in costs for the project is still up.
