It's been a while since I was on here. After a few years of building my cabin, I wound up selling it as the price was just too good to pass up and it let me move from my old property at our lake to our new one, which is on the water. I had split the 2 'lots' with a buddy of mine and we kicked around some ideas for cabins, but nothing ever came of it. He wound up hard up for cash and I bought him out about a year ago.

We had been staying at the lake in our camper. It's not been too bad, but I keep having the itch to build another cabin. I think I finally got the wife convinced. There is a large "carport" for a camper on the lot. I think I am going to re-work it as a 'cabin' and garage.

Boxing in the first 4 posts under the low part of the roof would measure 18x24. If I set new posts for the back wall at where the high roof starts, I can push that out to 18x26. That would make a dandy small cabin. I played around in with a design a while ago when we still split the property, and I took that floorplan and tweaked it to fit in the area.

There is no need for a full kitchen, we do all our cooking down at the lake outside. We just need a place for a small fridge and a coffee pot. The bedroom will be cozy, but still larger than we've had in the camper these last couple of years. A snug, yet serviceable bathroom rounds out the space.

Some renders of the design. (bear in mind that the actual materials/colors will vary a bit.

The odd windows in the side wall of the living room are there only to appease the wife that she gets a view of the water from the living room couch so she can see it in the morning when she has her coffee.

I can't tell you how much I missed our old cabin and regret selling it. Its nice being "on" the lake, but still...

All our cabin furnishing and decor have been in a storage locker since we vacated the old one, and if I don't build another cabin, I told the wife that I am going to sell the whole shebang.

I am planning on starting in on it this spring. Maybe in march. I'll make sure to keep the progress pics coming.

Nice conceptuals!
Fwiw, our cabin 2.0 is a glorified pole building type built 10yrs ago by the prev owner. Thus far with the things Ive had to fix and stuff I still need to I can seriously say that isnt the way Id go for a build.
Be especially wary of the existing roof; it needs to be good enough All The Way for the nice cabin you want to put under it.
