The only time my cabin is visible from the public road is when the sunlight reflects off the windows. Is there something like film that will eliminate that without hampering the view out?

Awning or shade? Even retractable? There! Is a project!

Plant some fast growing evergreen trees to hide your cabin?

The cloaking device on Star Trek?
Solar might not be enough to power the Beryllium Sphere.
But seriously, a solar powered dusk to dawn led light, or even an automatic motion detector one at the cabin and a conspicuous sign just in the driveway 'Smile, You're on Camera' might be better than trying to hide?

IF the reason for being hidden out of site is the thought that will lessen the chance of being burglarized, think again. A friend has a cabin that is not visible from any public road or trail. The property does share a boundary with a national forest but is still not actually visible from the boundary line.

They were burglarized by a couple of local boys. They were familiar with the local geography, knew all the trails, etc. These guys had burglarized close to a hundred cabins and homes in the general area and never got caught until one of them made a stupid mistake that caught the eye of a local pueblo police deputy. One is now in state prison and the other on parole and (slowly) paying back the judgement.

When they burglarized my friend's cabin they came in through the national forest in a 4x4 and drove over or through the barbed wire fence. I figure they spent at least a day there going through everything and selecting what they knew they could easily sell to a "fence".

Plus I can find all the local properties and see the boundaries on the county tax assessor website.

Thinking about crime of opportunity. Here's a shot from my yard today. The sun isn't on the cabin yet but you can see one of the windows. When the sun hits it's very obvious. The shop is down below, hoping they would figure that's all there is.

Think Id be more worried about the water coming down that gully behind.....
Fact is, ya cant stop the bad guys unless maybe if you are there. Maybe.
Coming and going with no real schedule likely is the best, if anybody is scoping out the place that could make em nervous.

What water?

There is a big cement fish pond at the base, with an 18" overflow pipe going down the side of the building.

I have my cell cameras dialed in pretty well, can't enter the place without me getting a picture in minutes.

Just thought if there was an easy way to stop the window reflection it'd be worth it. Going to look closer at those window films.

How about a non-refective whatever (a burlap shutter?) for when you are not there and have no need of a view?

That's an idea. I was thinking a plain old bug screen might work, and wouldn't need to be raised and lowered. I have some, will try it out.

Heavy steel shutters on all the openings.

Put hinges on those lattice panels beside the windows or buy more panels.

Would this work: Take a photo of the trees and get it transferred onto that perforated window film used on buses?

A screen of sticks to block the sun when it’s low enough to cause the reflection towards the road?
