I had an old school entertainment center in my shop that I was using as junk storage. I recently upcycled it into a hidden kitchenette with storage. I put in a camp chef 2 burner stove with an oven. Added a heat shield to the top, angled toward the back to protect the wood and get rid of the heat. Put a flourecent under cabinet light. Spice rack, utensil hangers, and will probably add a silverware basket on the doors that retract inside. There is a ton of storage underneath, for a dish pan, bottled water, pots/pans and room for countless canned goods and food storage. I am also going to put wood across part of the backside so I can put pot/ pan hangers behind the stove to free up space underneath. IMG_20201031_1839573.jpg

Thanks NBD. I posted it because I thought somebody with a small set up like a bunkie, one room cabin or just someone that doesn't want to look at a stove all day might put their own spin on it. Like I said it really has a lot of storage space. And if you have a fold up card table and a couple lawn chairs, you can have a decent spot for prepping, cooking, eating and clean up. Then just fold up the table and chairs and store them. Without taking up all the floor space.

Nice idea.
Does your camp chef boil water quick? Mine would take about 45min to boil water for pasta. I ended up selling it.

I use a camp chef at my cabin. Boils water just like any other propane stove as far as I can tell. Brettny, sounds like yours maybe had some obstruction in the jets? Bruce, we find ours works well at the cabin. Oven is a bit difficult to control temps (probably because it's small and has no thermostat) and needs to be watched (not a set it and forget it type stove).
Darz, you probably are already aware, but these things can get pretty hot with the oven on. Looks like you have plenty of clearance, but for anyone else considering a similar setup, please be sure to have plenty of clearance for fire safety.

Looks good, only the heat will dry out your spices and make them go stale faster.

My oven would get to 400* no problem. The top burners just didnt have the BTU output. I did blow the system out with compressed air. No luck. I did only pay $50 for a vintage 24in wide range so made out on the whole deal.

Are you guys using them indoors ? I would have it underneath a window I leave open ,and I would only use it in the winter as I have a ton of things to cook on outside in the summer or on mild days in the winter .

The stove works great. But as Atlin said. There's a slight learning curve with the oven. But totally doable. We've not had a problem with the stove burners. We actually use it with a 23 quart pressure canner every year, and it does very well. Atlin brought up a good point about the heat. I did put a heat shield under the top that has worked well. I was going to put in a 3 inch computer fan. But so far haven't needed it. I might end up using one of those little USB rechargeable desk fans on a cup hook. Can't hurt for sure.

Very nice Darz.
I have something similar, if not less elegant. I finished enclosing my cabin about the same time a friend tore apart his granny unit for a remodel. There was a whole wall of entertainment center/bar, whatever it was, in a funky stained glass motif. It's in my cabin now, linens in one, food in another and fridge, nuker, kitchen stuff in the other. Not very pretty but does the job. 20201101_105144.jpg

I also modified the top grate using some stainless so there are more support points. We had occasional issues with pots trying to tip over because there is insufficient support on the corners. Just something to be aware of (the tip potential).

Paulz. Excellent example of repurposing 👠Well done. I kinda enjoy keeping stuff from going to waste at the land fill.
