I seem to have more mold in one of my bedrooms than the rest of the house. I can smell it and I noticed it on a sunglass case that has been there for a while.

I only go up once or twice a month. It's a 2 bedroom ranch style house. The room shares a wall with the bathroom/shower plumbing but the water is turned off when I leave. It's the E/SE corner of the house. Until recently there were a lot of trees overhanging the house. Carpets were removed 18 months ago. New synthetic floor with vapor barrier. The walls are old style paneling. There is a full crawl space beneath the house with a vapor barrier and insulation in ceiling.

Any thoughts on why this room is affected more than the rest of the house?

Thanks!

Mold/mildew is a frequent topic here, much to be learned by searching for these terms.

Possible causes can be water leak, condensation due to poor insulation or non vented gas appliance, persistent damp weather, lack of air movement, etc, etc.

I leave a window cracked and have a solar powered fan to move air a bit. This minimizes the mildew, but I still have to clean surfaces with mildew killer. Bare wood and fabric seem most effected at my place.

Thanks! The solar fan is an interesting idea.
